Illuminating yellow

The colour of hope, symbolising a ray of sunshine peeking out from behind the clouds. Yellow was chosen as one of the main shades of the year 2021 and that makes sense. Now more than ever, we need support (the second colour of the year is responsible for this) and optimistic faith in the bright future. Pantone is confident that the chosen duo will provide us with both.

When it comes to the use of Illuminating yellow, it looks great paired with its partner for 2021, basic grey, as we see in the interior with the Coppelia chandelier. Milk, beige, mint and other natural shades also get along with the accent yellow. However, you should use the sun's colour in moderation, or choose paler variations.

Flawless grey

According to the idea of Pantone experts, the two main shades of this year should symbolize unity under the onslaught of universal storms. Grey, unlike optimistic yellow, has a different task in this duo - to be a support and to emphasize masculinity and resilience of human nature. This is for a reason: grey has long been a popular base in design. We can clearly see its unobtrusive dominance in the interior with the Adelard chandelier.

Another advantage of grey is its familiarity and ordinariness. Amidst the yearly succession of bright colour, grey remains an enduring classic despite the fact that every year designers try to write it off as “too boring and dull”!

Marigold

Colour therapists say that this shade has as much healing power as the marigold flowers. On the one hand bright and lush, on the other hand soft and relaxing, it is a colour, which could be the main accent in a setting (as in the interior with the Alghero chandelier).

Equally interesting and lively is the version with scattered floral patches. The trendy Marigold is a great addition in the interior with Magdalena chandelier. It looks good on the cushions and, at the same time, fills the wood, milk, white and beige shades of the chandelier.

Cerulean

The colour of the summer sky, soft and light azure is another symbol of hope in the Pantone palette. The tranquil shade can easily dominate in the setting and its presence gives the home space, an airy and serene feel. In addition, azure is compatible with all palettes: from grey and gold (as in the interior with the Olympia chandelier) to green, yellow and even burnt coral, (another spring/summer 2021 shade according to Pantone).

French blue

Unlike the main shade of 2020 (classic blue), French blue looks lighter and more relaxed. You can imagine how it transports to the streets of springtime Paris, awakening awareness and reminding of the value of every moment. Nevertheless, do not think of it as overly frivolous: due to its depth, the shade will easily fit into a strict, classic setting. It is particularly expressive in velvet upholstery, in tandem with the elegant Palermo chandelier.

Green Ash

It is not without green either. However, pastel Green Ash is not "green" in the traditional sense of the word. It is rather an original shade of mint, azure and aquamarine. Together they give a dreamy tone that fills the interior with liveliness and freshness.

Green ash can vary in intensity: from very soft variations, as in the interior with the Ella fitting light, to more saturated, with a distinct mint undertone, as in the interior with the Alghero wall lamp. This shade is used both as a base and as an accent palette.

Amethyst Orchid

Of course, the 2021 palette would not be complete without bright and even eccentric accents. It was the amethyst orchid - a reminder of the faded ultraviolet, which topped the Pantone palette in 2018. However, unlike ultraviolet, this colour is still restrained and can be used with other shades. For example, in combination with the lavender shades of the Bremen pendant light greys of varying intensities, white and pale mint. Feel free to use the bright shade as an accent if you want to add energy and extravagance to your surroundings.
